Star Of India picks up Guardian Series 'people's choice' Award for the third year running
Readers of the Guardian Series gave a unanimous 'thumbs up' to the popular "Star of India" restaurant in Leytonstone High Road for the third year running.
The restaurant won the 'People's Choice' Award in the 2009 'Restaurant of the Year Awards' held by the Guardian Series newspaper. 'The People's Choice' Award goes to the restaurant with the highest number of reader votes and 'thumbs up' by the judges.
Shah Ahmed, owner and chef at 'Star of India' is delighted with the Award: "this is a very special Award as it comes from the people most important to us - the local community".
Shah puts the success of the restaurant down to his "fantastic staff " and the exciting new tastes they are continually developing to give customers a true food experience. An extensive exotic fish menu has recently been added to the repertoire.
And what did the readers say about 'Star of India'? "Good food and service. The dishes are authentic home flavours. They have a wide range of choices with a very good vegetarian selection".
'Star of India' has recently introduced gift vouchers - a great gift idea at an "Award" winning restaurant.
